War Hawk - MPT- {Tomahawk} $125.00

Tomahawk (also referred to as a hawk) is a type of axe native to North America, traditionally resembling a hatchet with a straight shaft. The name came into the English language in the 17th century as a transliteration of the Powhatan (Virginian Algonquian) word. Tomahawks were general purpose tools used by Native Americans and European Colonials alike, and often employed as a hand-to-hand or a thrown weapon, much like the African nzappa zap. It originally featured a stone head, but later iron or brass heads were used. The metal tomahawk heads were originally based on a Royal Navy ballistic and used as a trade-item with Native Americans for food and other provisions The tomahawk shaft is usually less than 2 ft (0.61 m) in length, traditionally made of hickory, ash, or maple. The heads are anywhere from 9–20 oz (260–570 g) in weight, with a cutting edge usually not much longer than four inches from toe to heel. The poll can feature a small hammer, spike or simply be rounded off, and they usually do not have lugs. Stone tomahawk heads were typically made of polished soapstone, and ornately carved examples were used in some Native American rituals. These usually had a pipe-bowl carved into the poll, and a hole drilled down the center of the shaft for smoking tobacco through the tomahawk. There are also metal-headed versions of this unusual pipe. Pipe tomahawks are artifacts unique to North America: created by Europeans as trade objects but often exchanged as diplomatic gifts. They are powerful symbols of the choice Europeans and Indians faced whenever they met: one end was the pipe of peace, the other an axe of war. In Colonial French territory, a very different tomahawk design, closer to the ancient Francisca, was in use by French settlers and Indigenous Peoples.[3] In the late 18th Century, the British army issued tomahawks to their Colonial Regulars during the American Revolutionary War as a weapon and tool. Tomahawk throwing is a popular sport among American historical re-enactment groups, and new martial arts such as Okichitaw have begun to revive tomahawk fighting techniques used during the Colonial era. Tomahawks are also a category within competitive knife throwing. Traditional form of tomahawk gained in popularity in the "Vietnam War". They were made of wood handles, a hatchet-like bit and a leather sheath and were used by select U.S. forces in which was referred to as the "Vietnam Tomahawks". Today's hand-forged tomahawks are being made by master craftsmen throughout the United States. These modern tomahawks are made of drop forged, differentially heat treated, alloy steel. The differentiheat treatment allows for the chopping portion and the spike to be harder than the middle section allowing for a shock resistant body with a durable temper. Military application According to military After action Reports, apart from use as a CQB weapon, the tomahawk's modern use includes non-explosive dynamic entry, obstacle removal, lock/hasp removal, opening crates, ventilating fuel drums, digging fighting positions, personal defense, and IED removal.

The War Hawk is a fully functional multi-purpose tomahawk. Made from one piece full tang S7 tool steel, a shock-resisting tool steel with excellent impact properties. Because it is an air-hardening steel, it is safe and stable in heat treatment. S7's most important characteristic is its versatility. It is used widely for medium cold work tools and dies, for plastic-molding dies, shear blades, medium hot work dies, master hobs, and for component parts of many products. S7 is the benchmark shock resisting tool steel. This steel will last for years. The forward cutting edge is flat ground for general cutting purposes. The 15 inch handle gives you extreme cutting power. Be careful in cutting! Traditional tools are not stainless they was carbon steel. The same thing is true today as in years gone by: the best weapons are made of carbon steel, which simply is not stainless. Before your War Hawk is shipped it is vigorously tested to ensure outstanding quality.

The head size is 5 inch from top to bottom. The S7 tooling steel makes it easy to sharpen to razor sharpness. It can also be used for climbing and balanced for hand to hand combat with a no slip grip. The combat spike 4 1/2 can be used for throwing, for hole punching, and is capable of punching through a standard Kevlar helmet, tire flatting . The beard of the tomahawk is hollow ground and sharpened, allowing the user to hook and rip the attacker at the same time. The special 4 inch curve design hook from the beard to the handle allows more power in take down moves like trapping and hooking.

The handle is hand wrapped from hand braided 1000 pd test cord. Glue with waterproof epoxy seal with a rubber coated handle. It will never come apart, or I will fix for free just pay shipping. Sharpping is just $15.00 + shipping.
